50 Pounds of GOFAMCHAMP

The delightful medley you see here is an A and T original–currently referred to as GOFAMCHAMP. Our trail mix got a bit more elaborate than your average GORP… Rather:
Good
Old
Figs
Almonds
Macadamias
Cranberries
Hazelnuts
Apricots
M&Ms
Pecans

Num nums.

Although we plan on purchasing the bulk of our food in towns along the trail, we will have a number of mail drops along the way to ensure we are well-provisioned. Between Springer Mountain and Harpers Ferry we have about six drops planned–2 major ones carrying full food and supplies for about 5 days each, plus 4 smaller ones containing primarily GOFAMCHAMP. The larger drops allow us to press on in areas where proper resupply towns are inconvenient or nonexistent.

In other news, this is our first post using solely the iPhone for photo and content! This will be our primary–though potentially somewhat unpolished–method for updating the blog on a regular basis. Travis has a neat little charger (details to come when we get our “gear” post up and running…) that should allow us to create posts every few days and upload them when we reach a patch of sky with decent reception.

And now, back to baking up the entire contents of our pantry…

I wish I was one of the mail drops…I want GOFAMCHAMP (and of course to see you along the trail).
